The solution to ponding or standing water in yards

At Drainage First we focus on catching and moving water away from homes is extremely important. With 90% of homes in Georgia having basements or crawlspaces, proper drainage systems moving water away from the underground walls is a necessity. The less water soaking into the ground around the home the better chance you have of no water intrusion.

Almost all homes have flat or low points in their yards where water will stand after long hard rain storms. This is a perfect application for box drain or catch basin. These are containers that are put in the ground at the lowest points where water can flow into the top which have grates and drain lines to move the water to a safer place away from the home.

Boxes come in 6”, 9”, 12” and 18”. Which size you use is determined by volume of water in that area in the heaviest of storms. The cover grates come either flat or domed atrium style. We also at times will put stone collars around the box’s to help keep leaves and debris from covering the grate.

The drain lines we use are the smooth core drain lines to prevent plants from growing inside the lines which happens with the regular corrugated drain lines you can buy at the home improvement stores. No catch basins are maintenance free! A couple times a year you need to pull off the grate and remove any silt or mud
